Southern Europe To Receive Much-Needed Precipitation

Kansas City, January 5 (World Weather Inc.) –An upper-level low-pressure trough will gradually build over southern Europe through the end of the weekend and will remain most days next week as higher pressure builds over northern Europe. This trough will promote frequent precipitation for much of southern Europe that will gradually improve the moisture profile for the driest locations. Portions of Spain will need additional precipitation to completely fix the moisture deficits, though crop potentials will still improve. In the meantime, periods of cold weather are slated for Eastern Europe in the coming days. Damaging cold will be possible for portions of Belarus, the Baltic States, and neighboring areas. However, these locations should have ample snowpack to protect winter crops from damage. Livestock stress will be a concern during the coldest periods.
