Argentina To Receive Much-Needed Rainfall This Week

Kansas City, February 5 (World Weather Inc.) – The last time a general soaking rain impacted central Argentina was during the four-day period ending Jan. 16 and the last time that a general rain impacted central Buenos Aires was Dec. 27. Needless to say, portions of Argentina are quite dry and recent weather has been hot, too. The combination of recent weeks of dry weather and the past several days of excessive heat has exacerbated the drying trend in Argentina stressing crops more seriously now than at any other time this season. Rain prospects are improving for later this week and through the weekend offering some much needed relief from stressful crop and livestock conditions. Follow up rain will be imperative. Some negative production impact has likely occurred making this coming week of rain extremely important for putting an end to that trend.

Southern Brazil Drying Should Not Threaten Production

Kansas City, February 5 (World Weather Inc.) – Several areas in southern Brazil received little to no rain during the past week. The environment was favorable for soybean maturation and harvesting as well as Safrinha planting. Below normal precipitation and warmer than usual weather this week will continue to promote a good environment for maturation and fieldwork. Rain is advertised for next week and it will be very important for recharging soil moisture in the driest areas. Without the rain, there might be some concern over yield potentials. Other production areas in Brazil received enough rain during the past week to support good conditions for soybean, first-season corn and the establishment of early-planted Safrinha corn. Weather conditions should remain favorable in these areas.
