Northwestern Africa Still Suffering From Drought Despite Rain

Kansas City, February 13 (World Weather Inc.) – North Africa received some much needed rain during the past week, although most of it was light. The need for a general soaking remains high, although no such event is expected in the next ten days to two weeks. Crops are still semi-dormant and can still benefit greatly from generalized rain. Showers coming in the next week to ten days will keep crops viable in north-central through northeastern Algeria and northwestern Tunisia where soil moisture is rated most favorably and where crop yield potentials are highest. Southwestern Morocco has already missed out on usable rain for this season since that region is mostly irrigated and water supply was not sufficient to support planting.

Weekly Citrus Weather for Tuesday, February 13, 2024

Kansas City, February 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Florida’s citrus region was dry or mostly dry during the past week. Irrigation was run across the region and continued to support a good environment for fruit and tree development. A disturbance will bring varying amounts of rain to Florida this weekend that will supplement irrigation and maintain a good environment for the citrus that is developing and blooming. In Brazil, rainfall varied with many areas only receiving light rain. Precipitation potentials will increase in the coming days and should restore soil moisture to more favorable levels across citrus country. Mexico’s production areas were mostly dry during the past week. A disturbance will promote more widespread rain later this week and weekend, which will chip away at some of the dryness. Much more rain will be needed to completely fix the moisture deficits.
