Indonesia, Malaysia Drying To Accelerate;  India On Watch List

Kansas City, July 1 (World Weather Inc.) – The latest data on El Nino/Southern Oscillation and Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) has suggested that drying will accelerate in Indonesia and Malaysia during July. India is also expected to see less than usual rain in southern and central Parts of the nation during the middle part of July after a welcome bout of increased rainfall during this first week of July. Concern about rice, sugarcane, corn and a host of other short-rooted crops will begin to increase as these areas encounter more drying much of which is due to the aggressively strengthening El Nino event.

India To See Short-Term Boost In Rain; July May Be A Little Dry

Kansas City, June 30 (World Weather Inc.) – Early-season monsoonal rain was disrupted this month across India. Several locations were drier or much drier than usual, which may have promoted uneven or poor establishment in the driest areas of central, northern, and western India. Southern and eastern India still saw waves of rain in June that supported good establishment and early-season growth. The distribution of rainfall will now be relatively normal across India during the coming week with precipitation favoring eastern and central India into Maharashtra and western Madhya Pradesh as well as in areas along the southwestern coast. The more normal distribution of rain will improve establishment and early-season growth in areas that were previously drier than usual. However, the month of July is expected to be drier than usual in the west and south parts of the nation.

Western Pacific Tropical Disturbances To Become Cyclones

Kansas City, June 30 (World Weather Inc.) – Two tropical disturbances are being monitored in the western Pacific Ocean for the possibility of impacting eastern Asia. The more immediate system, labeled Invest 96W by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), is located over the Philippines and has the potential to become a tropical depression or storm in the next 72 hours. Models indicate it will likely develop and bring some heavy rain to the island of Hainan in southern China by Friday. Another disturbance, labeled Invest 95W, is organizing farther east in the open Pacific, and is forecast to become a large tropical storm or typhoon in the coming days. This storm will pass over the Mariana Islands and Guam this weekend. It is possible for this storm to impact eastern China, the Korean Peninsula or Japan late next week, though this forecast is too far out in time for any certainty. A close watch on both systems will be needed for those with interests in eastern Asia; including China, Vietnam, Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

Weekly Citrus Weather For Tuesday, June 30, 2026

Kansas City, June 30 (World Weather Inc.) – Florida’s citrus areas received timely rain during the past week that helped improve the moisture profile. Rainfall in recent weeks was too light to completely break the drought and additional precipitation is needed. Another week of frequent rain and thunderstorms will continue to improve the moisture profile and support better citrus development conditions. Mexico’s citrus areas either received enough rain or had enough moisture to support favorable conditions during the past week. Northeastern Mexico will continue to dry down during the coming week and timely rain will be needed later in July. Brazil’s citrus areas were unusually wet during the past week. Drier weather in the coming week will promote a better environment for those that are harvesting.
