Texas Panhandle, Northern West Texas Benefit From Rain

Kansas City, April 10 (World Weather Inc.) – A storm system moving from the southern U.S. Plains through the Delta Tuesday and overnight brought some welcome rain to wheat, corn, sorghum, cotton and livestock areas of the Texas Panhandle, western Oklahoma and parts of West Texas. The moisture was great in bolstering topsoil moisture after recent drying and warm to hot weather. The southwestern dryland counties of West Texas, however, failed to get much moisture and remain quite dry. Wheat benefited from the moisture immediately and future planting in the region will also benefit from the moisture.

U.S. Delta Flooding Rain To Impact Fieldwork

Kansas City, April 9 (World Weather Inc.) – Waves of rain have returned to the U.S. Delta overnight and will continue today with some impressive amounts expected by the end of the day Wednesday. Several strong to severe thunderstorms are also expected in the rainy pattern. Most of the Delta is already saturated or nearly saturated with moisture and another several inches of rain expected over the next two days will lead to flooding. Spring and summer crop planting is underway across the region and there is potential that some damage will occur to previously planted rice and corn and new delays to fieldwork are anticipated as well. Little follow-up rain is expected Friday into early next week, which will give the region a chance to dry down so that fieldwork can resume.
