U.S. Pacific Northwest Drought Will Intensify In Coming Weeks

Kansas City, October 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Drought intensified across the U.S. Pacific Northwest in recent weeks despite some spotty rain. Precipitation will remain limited for at least another ten day to two-week period with temperatures that trend near to above normal. Additional drying will occur and drought will further intensify. The need for timely precipitation will be high in the coming weeks and over the winter to improve prospects for the winter grains and other crops produced in the region. With El Nino expected to prevail through the winter, warmer than usual conditions may keep the Pacific Northwest in a drought. Mountain snowpack will be important for the region over the winter to improve winter crop prospects and planting prospects for next spring.

Hurricane Simon To Bring Rain From Mexico to Central U.S.

Kansas City, October 9 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Simon was located south of Manzanillo, Mexico this morning and promises to impact agriculture from west-central Mexico through the central and southwestern Plains to a part of the Midwest over the next several days. Some beneficial moisture will come to parts of Mexico and the southwestern through central Plains, but the some summer crop harvesting may be delayed and there may be some concern over dry beans in Mexico and maturing cotton in New Mexico, West Texas and some neighboring areas.
