China’s North China Plain In Need Of Rain

Kansas City, May 28 (World Weather Inc.) – Dryness remains a concern for China’s North China Plain and portions of the central Yellow River Basin despite some rain during the past week. Harvesting of the winter wheat advanced swiftly around the rain and yields are expected to be favorable. Rain-fed summer coarse grain, oilseed, cotton, rice and other crop areas have some soil moisture to support establishment, though there is a growing need for rain to ensure normal development beyond the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, areas near and south of the Yangtze River will see a good mix of rain and sunshine during the coming week, which will maintain relatively good rice, sugarcane, and corn conditions. Northeast China will see a mix of rain and sunshine into the first half of June that will be beneficial the region’s crops.

Drought or abnormally dry conditions persist in much of Mexico’s citrus areas. Drier weather will return during the coming week and should improve maturation and harvest conditions.
