Hurricane Beryl Reaches Texas; Low Impact On Agriculture

Kansas City, July 8 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Beryl has reached the upper Texas coast near Matagorda, Texas at 0400 CDT today. The storm came ashore as a Category One Hurricane producing sustained wind speeds of 80 mph and some flooding rain along with a notable storm surge. The storm and its remnants will move from eastern Texas through Arkansas by Tuesday evening and then to Ohio by Wednesday evening. Agricultural damage potential from the storm has been greatly reduced by the adjusted storm path since Friday when it looked like the system would impact South Texas.
