Southeast U.S. To See Dryness Relief

Kansas City, July 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Conditions have started to improve for the U.S. southeastern states. Waves of rain helped improve soil moisture during the past week, though drought or abnormally dry conditions remain prevalent in the main production areas. Virginia and the Carolinas will see periods of significant rain through the end of the weekend that will further improve the moisture profile. Other production areas in the southeastern states will see a good mix of rain and sunshine through the end of next week. Long-term crop conditions will improve or remain favorable in areas that were previously struggling with dryness earlier this season. Corn prospects remain less than favorable in North Carolina due to the poor growing conditions earlier this year.

Canada Prairies Warming Welcome Though The West Dried Out

Kansas City, July 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Limited rainfall combined with periods of warmer than normal weather helped firm up the ground in much of the Canadian Prairies during the past week. The drying trend was welcome in several locations of Manitoba and Saskatchewan where excessive moisture and flooding were threatening production. There are also some locations in Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan that have missed recent rain and the ground is quickly becoming too dry. Rain will have to fall soon in Alberta and western and southern Saskatchewan to maintain production potentials. Even though there are pockets of extreme weather present, the majority of the Prairies are seeing highly favorable weather this summer and production should be greatly improved over that of 2023. There is potential for some severe thunderstorms and brief bouts of heavy rainfall in the coming ten days while there will also be some locations suffering from hot, dry, conditions. The majority of the Prairies should remain in good shape with favorable production potential, but timely rain will be important.
