Central China Crops To Get “Some” Needed Rain

Kansas City, July 14 (World Weather Inc.) – Several areas from Sichuan and southern Shaanxi into portions of Hubei and Henan are drying down. These areas may already be too dry to suppsort ideal conditions for the rice, corn, and other grains and oilseeds produced this time of year. Some precipitation will occur during the coming week that will marginally improve the moisture profile in the driest locations. However, additional rain will be needed to completely fix the moisture deficits and support ideal long-term development conditions. In the meantime, Typhoon Bavi brought torrential rain to portions of southeastern, east-central, and Northeast China during the past week. Damage due to flooding and strong winds was suspected, though the extent of the losses was not yet known.
