India’s Monsoon Supports Favorable Summer Crop Production

Kansas City, August 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Varying amounts of monsoonal rain were noted across India during the past week. Northern India and portions of Uttar Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and northern Tamil Nadu may have received enough rain to promote localized flooding. Crop and structural damage were likely minimal, though the wettest locations would benefit from a period of drying. There is some concern about heavier rainfall later this month in central India that could cause more serious flooding. Otherwise, the environment was favorable for aggressive growth in much of the country. The main production areas will again have several opportunities for beneficial monsoonal rain during the coming week with local flooding from Bangladesh and the Eastern States into Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Madhya Pradesh and northern India.

Weekly Citrus Weather For August 13, 2024

Kansas City, August 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Florida saw normal weather return during the past week after Hurricane Debby brought heavy rain to portions of citrus country. Leftover moisture from Debby may have limited farming activity in the wettest locations. Citrus development conditions were otherwise favorable. Drier-than-normal weather is slated for much of citrus country during the coming week. Areas that are still excessively wet will welcome the drying trend. In Mexico, east-central and western Mexico saw a good mix of rain and sunshine this past week while northeastern Mexico was dry and this pattern will continue. Overall, Mexico’s citrus production potential remains less than favorable due to adverse conditions earlier this year. Brazil’s citrus areas received timely rain during the past week and seasonally dry weather will return during the coming week.
