Weekly Citrus Weather For Tuesday, October 22, 2024

Kansas City, October 22 (World Weather Inc.) – The extent of the damage due to Hurricane Milton in Florida was still not known and assessments were ongoing. This season’s crop is expected to be one of the smallest in the past few decades and that was before Hurricane Milton. Precipitation will be limited during the coming week, which will be beneficial for clean-up efforts and damage assessments. Brazil’s citrus areas will continue to have several opportunities for seasonal rainfall during the coming week. Flowering and fruit setting conditions will improve, though concerns for a smaller than usual crop for the upcoming season persist. Tropical Storm Nadine brought heavy rain to portions of Veracruz, Puebla, and northeastern Mexico in recent days. Flooding resulted, though citrus damage was suspected of being minimal.

Argentina Rain Will Further Improve Planting Conditions

Kansas City, October 22 (World Weather Inc.) – Argentina’s production areas saw periods of erratic rainfall during the past week. The rain was welcome where it occurred, though much more precipitation is needed to fully restore soil moisture to normal. Planting advanced swiftly around the periods of rain. A disturbance will promote more significant rain during the next few days that will help bolster soil moisture in much of the Pampas farming region. Drier weather will evolve late this week through early next week once the disturbance passes. Establishment and early-season development prospects will improve because of the rain and a lack of follow-up rain should promote aggressive planting.
