SE U.S. Rain To Bolster Soil Moisture; Flooding Possible

Kansas City, December 5 (World Weather Inc.) – The Gulf of Mexico will help funnel moisture into the U.S. through the latter part of next week. The moisture combined with disturbances tracking nearby will generate periods of precipitation from eastern Texas through the Delta and lower Midwest to the Atlantic Coast States. The precipitation will gradually bolster soil moisture with localized flooding possible in the lower Delta and interior parts of the southeastern states. The moisture will otherwise be beneficial for the winter crops in the Midwest and portions of the southeastern states where net drying has been occurring. Snow in the U.S. northeast will also impact travel and could damage infrastructure.

Europe Storm May Bring Damaging Wind, Heavy Rain

Kansas City, December 5 (World Weather Inc.) – An active weather pattern is in store for Europe over the next ten days with the kingpin of the period being a massive wind and rain storm that will bear down on western portions of the continent this weekend. Excessive wind speeds of 40-60 mph with greater gusts will impact the U.K., Ireland and northwestern France resulting in damage to trees, homes and businesses as well as possibly disrupting electrical service. Some disruption to land, sea and air transportation is likely as well. The series of storms expected over the next ten days may not only impact the areas mentioned above, but parts of Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and possibly a part of Germany. A few areas of flooding rain will be possible while the impact on crops should be minimal. The moisture boost resulting from this unsettled period will eventually prove favorable once winter grains and oilseeds come out of dormancy next spring.
