Drought Conditions Developing Along Southeast U.S. Coastline

Kansas City, December 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Thirty-day rainfall deficits between 1.00 and 3.00 inches are present from the North Carolina coastline southward through central and eastern South Carolina and southeastern Georgia to parts of Florida. Moderate drought conditions have evolved across parts of this region and in the next seven days minimal to no precipitation is expected across the Carolinas and Georgia. If this forecast verifies, much more precipitation will be needed to alleviate moisture deficits and to eventually support planting of spring crops in the coming months.

U.S. Northeast Susceptible To Additional Flooding

Kansas City, December 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Stormy weather underway in the northeastern United States this week has begun to erode drought conditions that have prevailed for a while. The region experienced the driest September-October period on record this year followed by below normal precipitation in November. More frequent precipitation was noted to start December with more rain and snow on the way during the next two weeks. The waves of precipitation combined with melting snow will likely lead to flooding. Travel may be disrupted at times and damage to infrastructure is likely.
