Tropical Cyclone May Bring Flooding to Carolinas, Virginia

Kansas City, September 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Computer weather forecast model changes overnight regarding a tropical disturbance near the northern Leeward Islands has raised the potential for flooding rain to impact the Carolinas and Virginia next week. The disturbance is expected to evolve into a tropical cyclone this weekend and it may be pushed inland by the combined influences of Tropical Storm Humberto and a mid-latitude trough of low pressure over the eastern Midwest. The forecast is bound to change as adjustments to the position and intensity of each weather feature is made in future model runs.

Hurricane Gabrielle To Make Rare Impact On Azores, Portugal

Kansas City, September 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Gabrielle will move across the Azores tonight and Friday before losing its tropical characteristics and weakening while enroute to southern Portugal. The storm will produce damaging wind, rough seas and some flood conditions over some of the islands and evacuations may be necessary. The storm will then reach Portugal Sunday as a much weaker storm with low potential for damage.

Tropical Storm Humberto Not Likely To Impact U.S.

Kansas City, September 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Storm Humberto formed Wednesday afternoon over open water in the tropical Atlantic Ocean and it will intensify to a hurricane this weekend while moving west northwesterly and eventually northwesterly over open water in the western Atlantic Ocean. The storm will eventually (early to mid-week next week) pass to the west of Bermuda, before turning to the northeast and moving away from North America.

Central, Western India Flood Potentials To Increase

Kansas City, September 24 (World Weather Inc.) – Harvesting of some of India’s earliest-planted crops is likely underway in several locations. A lack of rain in northwestern India was beneficial for harvesting and general fieldwork during the past week. In the meantime, several areas from eastern India into southern India, Maharashtra, and neighboring locations received significant enough rain to have impacted maturation and early-season harvesting. A monsoonal disturbance will promote waves of significant rainfall from eastern and central India into Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and neighboring locations through early next week. The ground will remain saturated and flooding will be a growing concern in Maharashtra, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh. Minor crop damage will be possible, along with quality declines. Harvesting and general fieldwork may come to a standstill as well. Other locations will experience more favorable harvest conditions despite some rain in the south and north.

Tropical Storm Bualoi Aiming For Central Philippines

Kansas City, September 24 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Storm Bualoi recently evolved over the western Pacific Ocean. The disturbance was rapidly advancing toward the Philippines at mid-day today and will track across the central part of the country Thursday and early Friday. Several locations in the Visayan Islands and southern Luzon Island will receive enough rain to promote flooding. Damage to rice, corn, tree crops, and other crops will be possible, although the storm is not likely to be very intense. Tropical Storm Bualoi will then enter the South China Sea later Friday before traveling toward Vietnam over the weekend. Rain will lash portions of northern and central Vietnam and southwestern China later this weekend and early next week, which could promote flooding and landslides.
