Central U.S. Drying To Accelerate Wheat Planting

Kansas City, September 24 (World Weather Inc.) – Frequent rain so far this month in the central United States has bolstered soil moisture and slowed early season planting in wheat production areas. However, the moisture has set the stage for aggressive seeding, germination and emergence over the next couple of weeks as drier weather evolves over the region. Aggressive planting early this year is prescribed to get crops in the ground and established well prior to the possible influence of La Nina’s drier bias that may evolve later this season. The moisture is also supporting improved livestock grazing conditions.

Parts of Brazil Need Rain As Early-Season Planting Continues

Kansas City, September 23 (World Weather Inc.) – Early-season planting is underway in Brazil. Southern Brazil has ample moisture to support aggressive establishment and early-season growth while center-south, center-west, and northeastern Brazil remain too dry to support ideal planting prospects. Although the main production areas will have opportunities for erratic rainfall during the coming week, resulting precipitation will be too light to significantly improve soil moisture for much of center-south, center-west, and northeastern Brazil. The need for more significant rain will increase in October as planting expands across the country. Harvesting of winter wheat in southern Brazil will otherwise advance under more favorable conditions in the coming days due to the lack of abundant precipitation.

Weekly Citrus Weather for September 23, 2025

Kansas City, September 23 (World Weather Inc.) – The citrus areas in Florida received rain on a frequent basis during the past week, keeping soil moisture at favorable levels for aggressive growth. Additional rain during the coming week will continue to support a good environment for the citrus. Mexico’s citrus areas also received monsoonal rain on a frequent basis during the past week with more on the way in the coming days. Citrus development conditions will remain favorable while harvesting may advance slowly during the wettest periods. Brazil’s citrus region will have a few opportunities for spotty rain during the coming week, though no major delays are expected.
