Mato Grosso, Northeast Brazil To Receive Much-Needed Rain

Kansas City, December 2 (World Weather Inc.) – Precipitation was limited in a large section of Brazil during the past week. Only a few locations in northeastern Brazil received enough rain to bolster topsoil moisture while net drying was noted elsewhere. Moisture deficits prevailed and intensified from southern Mato Grosso into northern Mato Grosso do Sul and southwestern Goias at the same time the ground continued to firm farther south into Rio Grande do Sul. Crop establishment and early-season development conditions are less than ideal in the driest locations. Mato Grosso, Goias, and northeastern Brazil will see a good mix of rain and sunshine this week that will help improve the moisture profile and induce more aggressive crop development. Other production areas will remain drier than usual and continue to dry down until next week when some increase in rain is expected from Parana and Sao Paulo into southern Mato Grosso which is an area that will benefit greatly from the rain.

Tropical Depression Koto Will Bring Rain To Vietnam

Kansas City, December 2 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Depression Koto slowly meandered around the South China Sea over the weekend. After briefly intensifying to a typhoon, conditions have been unfavorable for continued development. The system was recently downgraded to tropical depression and will further weaken in the coming days. Remnants of Koto will still help generate rain for portions of Vietnam and Cambodia through Thursday. Crop and structural impacts should be minimal due to the rain.

South America Weather Change To Last Through December

Kansas City, December 1 (World Weather Inc.) – Weather patterns are changing in South America this week as the influence of La Nina becomes more dominating. La Nina tends to produce less than usual precipitation in eastern Argentina, Uruguay, Southern Brazil and southern Paraguay while rainfall tends to be greater than usual from center west into center south Brazil. These are the anomalies that are evolving in South America today and they are expected to last through the Month of December. Changes in January and February will be dependent upon the fate of La Nina. If La Nina diminishes as expected rainfall in South America will return to a pattern similar to that of November, but if the phenomenon prevails weather anomalies will remain as they will be in December.
