Atlantic Hurricane Season Lines Up With Previous El Nino Years

Kansas City, September 11 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane season so far in the Atlantic Ocean has been below normal, which is typical during El Nino years. There have only been five named storms since the season started June 1 and today marks the record with the latest development of a hurricane in the Atlantic Basin during the satellite era, according to Accuweather. Development of a tropical wave is not expected through the end of next week and conditions may be less than favorable into the second week of the outlook. The chances for another below normal hurricane season are high for the Atlantic Basin, though there will still be chances for tropical activity late this month into October and November.

Brazil Harvest, Planting Conditions Mixed

Kansas City, September 11 (World Weather, Inc.) – Recent rain in some of the previously drier areas from Mato Grosso do Sul to Parana and Sao Paulo improved soil moisture and conditions for summer crop planting while rain in Mato Grosso and Goias has been minimal. Meanwhile, the rain in Parana has slowed winter wheat harvesting and with frequent, significant, rain in and near Parana during the next two weeks concern over longer harvest delays and quality declines will rise.
