Southeast Asia To See Rain; More Needed To Fix Dryness

Kansas City, April 21 (World Weather Inc.) – Mainland Southeast Asia and the Philippines continued to experience well below normal rainfall in recent weeks outside a few locations in northern Vietnam. Several locations in mainland Southeast Asia are enduring drought conditions and in need of timely rain ahead of the monsoon. Continued dryness may impact early-season planting of rice, corn, and other crops as well as early season development of unirrigated sugarcane, coffee, and a host of other crops before the monsoon season begins. Both mainland Southeast Asia and the Philippines will have opportunities for showers and thunderstorms during the coming week. All of the rain will be welcome, but it may not be well distributed or great enough to seriously improve the moisture profile throughout the entire dry region. Much more rain will be needed to improve planting, emergence and development conditions for early season crops.

Weekly Citrus Weather for Tuesday, April 21, 2026

Kansas City, April 21 (World Weather Inc.) – Outside a few pockets near the Atlantic Ocean, Florida’s citrus region was dry or received limited rain during the past week. Drought is firmly in place and the need for significant rain is rising, although rain in late March and early April has left the crop region in relatively good shape especially with irrigation. Precipitation will remain limited for at least another week, which will be beneficial for producers that are harvesting. However, the need for abundant rain will be rising heading into May. Seasonal rains usually begin in Florida during late May. Mexico’s citrus areas saw a mix of erratic rain and sunshine during the past week with more on the way in the coming week. Flowering and fruit setting conditions will remain generally favorable. Brazil’s citrus region will also receive limited precipitation during the coming week. Harvesting will advance swiftly.
