Southern U.S. Rain Bringing Drought Relief To “Some” Areas

Kansas City, May 1 (World Weather Inc.) – A very big disappointing rain event continues over parts of West Texas at noon CDT today. The storm advertised most of this week to produce generalized rain of significance from Colorado through all of West Texas failed to verify. Some rain fell in the described region, but the northern half to two-thirds of West Texas failed to get much more than a few hundredths of an inch of moisture so far and the precipitation event will abate from the region later today and tonight. Several dryland cotton production areas in the southwest of West Texas have received rain and some of it has surpassed 1.00 inch; though, the area impacted by the greatest rain is quite small. West Texas may have to wait at least another week to possibly ten days for the next opportunity for meaningful rain. In the meantime, “some” relief is expected in the dry areas of the lower Delta and southeastern United States this weekend, but more rain will be needed in those areas as well.
