Southern Brazil Safrinha Corn To Get More Week; North Drying

Kansas City, May 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Brazil’s safrinha corn areas received varying amounts of rain during the past week. Parana received the greatest amount of rain and long-term production potentials are relatively favorable. Several areas in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Sao Paulo received much-needed rain as well, though several fields did not receive enough to counter evaporation. Rainfall this week will again favor Parana, southern and western Mato Grosso do Sul and southeastern Paraguay where Safrinha corn conditions will remain favorable or improve additionally. Sao Paulo will also receive some rain while Mato Grosso and Goias continue to dry down. The need for timely rain will be high in center-west Brazil in order to improve late-season Safrinha corn growth.

Central U.S. Hard Red Wheat To See Rain, Snow Ease Dryness

Kansas City, May 4 (World Weather Inc.) – An unusually late season snow event will impact eastern Colorado late tonight into Wednesday morning with a mix of rain and snow likely in wheat areas of western Kansas and a few in southwestern Nebraska. The moisture will be welcome and should ease dryness just a bit. Some improved wheat and summer crop conditions are possible in the areas that get the greatest moisture. Other areas in hard red winter wheat country are unlikely to see much improvement in crop or field conditions especially not in the southwest where dryness is most dominating. Texas and western Oklahoma crop areas are least likely to get relief from drought this week.
