U.S. Pacific Northwest Will Be Dry, Warm In Coming Days

Kansas City, May 8 (World Weather Inc.) – Drought continues to impact portions of the Pacific Northwest, although water supply for irrigated land seems to be sufficient to support crops in those areas. Rain-fed wheat and barley production areas need rain and the coming week of warmer than usual temperatures and limited precipitation may further stress some of the unirrigated crops. Most of the winter wheat and barley is still rated favorably, but there is concern for dryland production. Drier and warmer than usual weather will prevail through the first part of next week. Rain potentials will increase toward the middle and latter part of next week with additional rain possible during the second week of the outlook. As long as the rain later this month verifies, short-term conditions for the spring grains will improve. Winter grain prospects will remain relatively favorable, especially in irrigated areas.
