Australia Will Continue To Receive Timely Rain

Kansas City, June 10 (World Weather Inc.) – Planting and establishment conditions for Australia’s winter wheat, barley, and canola have been relatively favorable in recent weeks. The main production areas were wetter than usual in May with exceptions in Western Australia. More rain is on the way through the middle of next week and some of the greatest rain will fall in Western Australia and South Australia. The additional rain will support good establishment and early-season development in most locations outside the driest areas. Producers may still reduce the overall planted acreage of some crops this year because of limited rainfall that usually occurs in the spring and summer of El Nino years.

Brazil Rain To Disrupt Cotton, Corn, Sugar and Coffee Harvest

Kansas City, June 10 (World Weather Inc.) – Early-season harvesting of Brazil’s Safrinha corn and cotton is underway along with the harvest of coffee and sugarcane. Conditions have been quite favorable for maturation and harvesting during the past week due to a lack of abundant rain and mild to warm temperatures. An unusually wet weather pattern is now slated for several production areas through early next week. The rain will disrupt fieldwork of all kinds from Rio Grande do Sul to southern Mato Grosso, southern Goias and northern Minas Gerais. Some temporary cotton fiber quality decline is expected and there will be some concern for reduced sucrose levels in unharvested sugarcane. Drying of harvested coffee beans will also be disrupted for a while. Less rainfall is expected June 18-25, but some showers may still impact a part of the nation which may perpetuate some crop quality and harvest concerns.
