Argentina Sees Improved Vegetative Health Compared to 2023

Kansas City, February 23 (World Weather Inc.) – Since February 2023, vegetative health conditions have greatly improved in much of Argentina thanks to beneficial rainfall this summer. While the past 90-days have seen near to slightly above normal rainfall, the most recent 30-days have seen drier than normal conditions, causing drier soil conditions. Timely rainfall is expected through at least the next 10 days, bringing between 1.15 to 2.75 inches to much of central and northern Argentina. While these amounts are beneficial, consistent rainfall will be needed in the coming weeks to maintain adequate soil conditions and support crop development.

Russia To Experience Snow Melt; Flood Potentials May Decrease

Kansas City, February 23 (World Weather Inc.) – Abundant snow remains on the ground in portions of Russia’s main production areas. Flood potentials are high due to well above normal snow depths over saturated soil north of Ukraine and Russia’s Southern Region. A high-pressure ridge will restrict precipitation for a large section of the western Commonwealth of Independent States through the end of next week. The lack of precipitation combined with warmer-than-normal weather will start to melt some of the snow. The melted snow will likely be run off and may help reduce flood potentials in March. Winter wheat, barley, rye, and oilseed potentials remain favorable across the region even with the threat for spring flooding.
