U.S. Pacific Northwest Winter Wheat Greening Possible

Kansas City, February 27 (World Weather Inc.) – Recent temperatures in the mid-40s to low 60s Fahrenheit in the U.S. Pacific Northwest have caused soil temperatures to warm. Some greening of winter wheat is possible as temperatures are expected to continue fluctuating between the 40s and 60s. Drier biased conditions have been present in portions of the crop region; particularly in the central Washington and northern Oregon. Between 0.10 and 0.40 inch of precipitation is expected in total for the next 7-days in central Washington, which will amplify the need for further moisture to support developing crops

Central U.S. Livestock Stress Rises On Temperature Extremes

Kansas City, February 27 (World Weather Inc.) – Very dry air across the central parts of North America Monday will continue in some areas through the weekend. The low humidity is allowing some areas dry out significantly, but the temperatures are swinging wildly as well. Livestock stress has already occurred and more will take place through the weekend and into early next week due to temperatures that will fall precipitously on strong northerly winds today and then turn much warmer later this week and then colder again in some areas early next week. Heaving soil and a drying wind in the high Plains may lead to some blowing dust.
