Wild Weather Coming; Batten Down The Hatches

Kansas City, April 5 (World Weather Inc.) – Spring 2024 is shaping up like a more traditional spring in which contrasting air masses collide to induce some wild weather gyrations. It has been a few years since severe weather outbreaks were numerous in the spring, but 2024 is likely to change that trend. There have already been a few events of severe weather including strong wind speeds, severe thunderstorms, hail, damaging wind, tornadoes and wildly swinging temperatures. All of these conditions are expected in this coming week and damage is expected.

South Africa Rain Too Late To Improve Yield Potentials

Kansas City, April 4 (World Weather Inc.) – An active weather pattern is in store for South Africa during the coming week. The rain will be enough to restore soil moisture that was lost to evaporation during the past several weeks. However, late season summer crop production potentials have already been reduced in central portions of South Africa due to the drier and warmer weather that dominated since mid-February. The rain that evolves in the coming days will occur too late in the season to improve late-season development and general production potentials. Maturation and early-season harvesting may also advance slowly in the wettest locations. Minor quality declines will be a concern in the wettest fields.
