Argentina Harvest May Be Disrupted By Rain

Kansas City, April 15 (World Weather Inc.) – Impressive rain fell across Argentina during the past week with the bulk of the greatest amounts occurring during the weekend. The rain hindered crop maturation and stalled harvesting; though, improved weather is expected to evolve this week after additional rain falls today. Concern over crop quality is not expected to rise much because of returning dry weather. Tuesday through Friday will be dry and then another bout of rain is possible during the weekend, but it will be much lighter and more confined to east-central and northeastern crop areas. The rain was good for the most immature summer crops and will be of some user to autumn planting that occurs in late May and June.

Center-West Brazil Safrinha Corn Prospects Improve From Rain

Kansas City, April 15 (World Weather Inc.) – Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, and Goias received much-needed rainfall during the past week and it could not have been better timed with the arrival of the dry season expected later this week. Rainfall was enough raise soil moisture that will be needed to support aggressive Safrinha corn development in the coming weeks. These areas will receive additional rain early this week that will help keep soil moisture at favorable levels through the end of this month and perhaps longer for some areas. Many areas in southern Brazil also received significant rainfall during the past week and waves of follow up rain are expected. Additional rain this week may further slow harvest rates. In the meantime, the monsoon season has ended in northeastern Brazil and dry weather will prevail into late month from Minas Gerais to Piaui and parts of Tocantins.
