Flooding Rain In Rio Grande do Sul Brazil Causing Damage

Kansas City, May 1 (World Weather Inc.) – Heavy rain has fallen in Rio Grande do Sul, as expected, over the past two days with lighter rain occurring earlier this week. The torrents of moisture have induced serious flooding in the middle half of the state. Numerous deaths have been reported and the damage assessments for property and crops are just beginning. Additional waves of rain through the next full week to nearly ten days will lead to additional problems; including damage to unharvested soybeans and some remaining rice as well as other moisture sensitive crops.

Weekly Citrus Weather for May 1, 2024

Kansas City, May 1 (World Weather Inc.) – Florida’s citrus region was dry or received limited rainfall during the past week. Irrigation was the primary source for moisture and continued to support good development conditions. Similar conditions were expected during the coming week. Brazil’s citrus areas were seasonally dry during the past week with dry weather continuing during the coming week. Early-season maturation and harvesting will advance with few disruptions. Dryness persists across Mexico’s citrus areas despite some spotty rainfall. East-central and northeastern Mexico will again see periods of erratic rain during the coming week, though resulting rainfall will be too light to significantly improve the moisture profile.
