Australia To Dry Down After Good June Rainfall

Kansas City, July 2 (World Weather Inc.) – Winter wheat, barley, and canola conditions remain favorable for Australia, at least for the short-term. Timely rain was noted across the main production areas in June that helped support good establishment and early-season growth. With the threat for reduced rainfall looming later in the growing season due to El Nino, there are still concerns for slightly lower than usual yield potentials for the upcoming season. Victoria and South Australia will have a few opportunities for spotty rain during the coming week while Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales receive little to no rain. The main production areas will have enough moisture to support relatively good crop prospects for the short-term, though the need for timely rain will increase later this month.
