Blocking Pattern To Heat up Europe, Dry Out Western CIS

Kansas City, May 21 (World Weather Inc.) – A blocking weather pattern evolving over the western Commonwealth of independent States (CIS) and eastern Europe is expected to have some lasting impacts on agriculture. Temperatures in central and eastern Europe are expected to rise above normal during the coming ten days as a result of the blocking pattern. Similarly, rainfall is expected to be lighter than usual over western Russia, the Baltic States, Belarus, Ukraine and areas from eastern Poland into Moldova and eastern Romania. The blocking pattern may last for no less than ten days and perhaps for two weeks and since some areas from eastern Ukraine to western Kazakhstan are already dry, the end result may be a greater level of crop stress for some of the dry region.
