Tropical Storm Alberto Flooding Portions Of Eastern Mexico

Kansas City, June 20 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Storm Alberto was moving inland over east-central Mexico this morning; however, moderate to heavy rain and coastal flooding has been impacting much of eastern Mexico since early on Wednesday. The storm will dissipate over the Sierra Madre later today and tonight, but remnant rainfall will continue in many areas into Friday. In the meantime another disturbance will form in the southern Bay of Campeche that may bring significant rain to the same region late this weekend into Monday exacerbating the flooding.

Indian Monsoon Will Slowly Expand In Coming Week

Kansas City, June 18 (World Weather Inc.) – India’s monsoon season is underway. Early-season monsoonal rain has been impacted by the position of the Madden-Julian Oscillation, which helped promote lower than usual rainfall in a large section of the country. Monsoonal rainfall will expand from southern, central, and eastern India during the coming week with rainfall again trending slightly below normal due to the MJO. Planting and general fieldwork will still get underway between rain events. Early-season cotton and sugarcane in northern India and Uttar Pradesh will otherwise remain stressed due to a lack of rain and hot daytime temperatures.
