Weekly Citrus Weather for July 2, 2024

Kansas City, July 2 (World Weather Inc.) – A normal summertime weather pattern helped improve the moisture profile across Florida’s citrus region during the past week. Rain will continue on a frequent basis during the coming week and will maintain a good environment for aggressive growth. Monsoonal rain was noted on a frequent basis in Mexico’s main citrus areas as well. Western and east-central Mexico will again have several opportunities for monsoonal rain during the coming week. Northeastern Mexico will trend drier than normal, though there is potential Hurricane Beryl impacts the region late this weekend into early next week. Brazil’s citrus region will continue to see generally good harvest conditions during the coming week.

California Heat Ridge To Stress Crops, Livestock

Kansas City, July 1 (World Weather Inc.) – Temperatures will gradually surge above or well above normal for this time of year for western North America, particularly California, in the coming days as a high-pressure ridge moves inland from the Pacific Ocean. This ridge will funnel warmer air across the region with temperatures surging well above 100 degrees (possibly to 115) Fahrenheit in California’s central valleys. Significant crop and livestock stress will be the greatest concern. Crop areas in the Pacific Northwest will also see temperatures surge above normal later this week and weekend with some locations potentially warming near 100 degrees as well. The environment will gradually deteriorate for crops, most notably in Washington where drought or abnormally dry conditions are prevalent in portions of crop country.
