Australia’s Winter Crop Areas Will Receive Additional Rain

Kansas City, July 3 (World Weather Inc.) – Much of Australia’s winter wheat, barley, and canola received at least a light amount of rain during the past week. Western Australia, Queensland, and portions of New South Wales and South Australia still need additional rain to completely fix the moisture deficits and support ideal long-term crop conditions, though conditions have slowly improved in recent weeks. The country will be impacted by an upper-level weather disturbance as it slowly advances over the country through the middle of next week. Periods of rain will evolve in the main production areas with some of the most significant precipitation slated for New South Wales and southern Queensland. Soil moisture will either remain near current levels or increase by this time next week. Crop prospects will remain generally favorable across the country.

Ukraine, Russia Heating Up, Drying Down

Kansas City, July 3 (World Weather Inc.) – A building ridge of high pressure over western portions of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is bringing in warmer than usual temperatures while restricting rainfall. The ridge was just beginning to impact the region this week and it will last for at least ten days. Declining soil moisture in portions of central and eastern Ukraine, Russia’s Southern Region, southeastern portions of Russia’s Central Region and the middle Volga River Basin will lead to faster winter crop maturation and harvest progress while slowly stressing spring and summer crops in the driest soil. In the meantime, weather in the eastern CIS New Lands will remain favorable with moisture abundance and seasonable temperatures to stimulate aggressive new crop development.
