Weekly Citrus Weather for August 6, 2024

Kansas City, August 6 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Debby brought torrential rain to several counties along the Gulf of Mexico Coast of Florida in recent days. Severe flooding was noted, though citrus damage was initially suspected of being minimal. Other locations received enough rain to maintain a good environment for crops. Precipitation will be a little lower than usual during the coming week. Flooding will slowly decrease in the wettest locations. Northeastern Mexico was mostly dry during the past week while the remaining citrus areas saw a good mix of rain and sunshine. A similar weather pattern will occur during the coming week. Brazil’s citrus areas will have opportunities for mostly light rain later this week, though no major harvest delays are expected.

Debby Brings Copious Rainfall, Flooding To Northern Florida

Kansas City, August 6 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Debby became a tropical storm quickly during the morning Monday after slamming into the northern Apalachee Bay coast producing wind gusts to 98 mph. During the day Monday, incredible amounts of rain fell across the interior northeast and north-central parts of Florida with totals ranging from 10.00 to more than 26.00 inches. Such rains occur more often in China, but not in the United States. Similar amounts are anticipated in South Carolina over the next few days with some lower coastal areas already reporting more than 11.00 inches through dawn today. Flooding is going to destroy property and agriculture. Florida’s rainfall is over, but the Carolinas will deal with it for a few more days and a similar impact is likely.

Canada Prairies Agricultural Weather Prognosticator For August 1, 2024

Inside this edition of the Canadian Prairies Agricultural Weather Prognosticator is an update on July weather and how it failed to provide any serious moisture outside of the far northwest and extreme southeast parts of the Prairies. An Update on the August weather outlook was provided and an early look at September as well. Rainfall will continue a little lighter than usual in many areas, although parts of the west and east will do a little better than the heart of Saskatchewan. A special article suggesting there might be one opportunity for significant rain near mid-month across the Prairies when warmer air returns after being cool in the first week of August. Updates on Russia, Ukraine, India and Australia are also included in this issue.

Mainland Southeast Asia Soil Moisture Improving

Kansas City, August 5 (World Weather Inc.) – Thailand and several neighboring areas in mainland Southeast Asia received significant rainfall during the past week with the greatest rain falling in some areas during the weekend. Localized flooding was possible in the wettest locations with minor crop damage possible. The rain otherwise improved the moisture profile and supported a better environment for rice, sugarcane and a host of other crops. Some of the rain may have come too late, though, and some production cut (especially corn) is still expected. Drier-than-normal weather is now slated for mainland Southeast Asia this week before a boost in rain occurs again next week. The drying trend should have a low impact since crops now have adequate moisture to carry on normal development. Portions of Indonesia and Malaysia will also receive much-needed rain this week.
