Eventually, a turn to the north and/or the northeast is expected and will keep the system out over open water through most of its lifetime.

Hurricane Francine To Move Inland This Evening In Louisiana

Kansas City, September 11 (World Weather Inc.) – Hurricane Francine was producing widespread rain along the Louisiana coast this morning, although the precipitation has been light so far. Wind speeds have also been light staying under 25 mph in most areas. However, the center of the storm was expected inland this evening passing to the south southwest of Morgan City. The storm center will pass to the west of New Orleans and it may come ashore with sustained wind speeds near or above 100 mph. Damage to sugarcane is quite likely along with serious beach erosion and both coastal flood and wind damage. The storm will then move up through the eastern Delta where some heavy rain and flooding is expected along with tropical storm force wind.
