Taiwan Bracing For Torrential Rain From Typhoon Krathon

Kansas City, October 2 (World Weather Inc.) – Typhoon Krathon continued to meander slowly between Taiwan and Philippines during the past few days. Krathon will approach Taiwan today before advancing across the island overnight through early Friday. Torrential rain will spread across Taiwan today and Thursday with southern and eastern sections of the island receiving 10.00 to over 20.00 inches of rain. Severe flooding and landslides will likely promote significant rice and structural damage. Krathon will weaken while approaching Taiwan, but is still expected to make landfall as a typhoon. Once over Taiwan, the disturbance will weaken further and likely dissipate later in the day Friday.

Argentina Rain Potential Rising For Next Week

Kansas City, October 1 (World Weather Inc.) – Early season planting of corn and sunseed has been a little slow this year because of ongoing dryness. There is also concern over the general condition of winter wheat and barley. The outlook for change is not very good through the weekend and into Monday; however, there is potential for “some” improved precipitation during the middle to latter part of next week. Early-season planting will advance around the brief periods of spotty rain; however, producers may wait for greater rain before putting a significant amount of crop in the ground.

Weekly Citrus Weather For October 1, 2024

Kansas City, October 1 (World Weather Inc.) – Although Hurricane Helene did not make direct landfall over Florida’s citrus country, several areas near and along the Gulf of Mexico received several inches of rain during the past week. Flooding was possible in the wettest pockets, though no damage to citrus fruit or trees was suspected. The main production areas will receive additional rain during the coming week that will maintain a good outlook for the citrus. In Mexico, Tropical Storm John brought torrential rain to Guerrero and several neighboring areas in Colima, Michoacan, and Oaxaca early last week. Severe flooding and landslides were noted, which may have damaged or destroyed some fruit and trees. Flooding and standing water will remain a concern in the coming days as frequent rainfall persists. In Brazil, the main citrus areas will remain warmer and drier biased in the coming week. Flowering conditions will remain less than favorable to poor.
