Potential Tropical Cyclone 19 A Serious Threat to NW Caribbean

Kansas City, November 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Potential Tropical Cyclone 13 could have significant implications on northwestern Caribbean coastal communities and in portions of the Yucatan Peninsula over the next few days. If the storm survives its trek across the Yucatan it has some potential to become a viable storm in the Gulf of Mexico, but it is too soon to speculate on that intensity or the ultimate destination which might be Florida after the Yucatan Peninsula. In the meantime very serious flooding is anticipated for coastal Honduras, Belize and neighboring areas in the northwestern Caribbean Sea.

India Harvest Weather To Remain Great

Kansas City, November 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Summer crop harvesting is advancing swiftly across central and northern India. Many areas in the south received enough rain to slow harvesting and general fieldwork at times in recent weeks, although some of the summer crops in that region will not be ready for harvesting for a while and the moisture was good for late season summer and winter crops. Southern India will receive additional rain on a frequent basis in the coming days and that may continue to slow harvest rates; although, producers should find time to harvest between rain events. The remaining production areas will be mostly dry and fieldwork will advance well. Winter crop planting is advancing; although, it may be a little slow in some areas after the hot weather of recent weeks. Some rain and cooling would be best in unirrigated winter crop areas.

Northwest Africa In Need Of Rain As Planting Begins

Kansas City, November 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Planting of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia winter grain and rapeseed normally occurs at this time of year and persists through January. Periods of rain since the beginning October have been welcome for the earliest planted crop. However, moisture shortages persist and the need for rain remains high. Northwestern Africa will see a mix of erratic rain and sunshine through the middle of next week as an upper-level disturbance meanders near the region. Short-term relief will be minimal for recently planted crops, though the rain will still be welcome. The region will otherwise remain too dry to support ideal long-term crop prospects and additional rain will be needed.

Typhoon Usagi To Impact Philippines, Taiwan

Kansas City, November 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Typhoon Usagi was packing a maximum sustained wind speed of 130 mph at 1700 GMT today from a position 190 miles from the northeastern most point of Luzon Island, Philippines. The storm was moving northwesterly and will impact the northeastern one-fourth of Luzon Island the remainder of today and Thursday with torrential wind and rainfall. Flooding is also expected. The storm may damage some crops and property in the region. Usagi is just one of many tropical cyclones that have plagued the nation recently and another storm named Man-Yi could impact the nation late this weekend. In the meantime, Usagi may have a brief encounter with Taiwan.
