Northern California, Oregon Storm Summary In Graphics

Kansas City, November 21 (World Weather Inc.) – Northern California and southwestern Oregon’s excessive rain and wind event has lived up to its expectations. Today’s wind speeds subsided across the region, but speeds Tuesday and Wednesday were damaging in some areas. Flooding is the next issue with rainfall already varying from 4.00 to 11.00 inches across the region and additional amounts of 2.00 to 8.00 inches likely by Saturday evening. Flooding will worsen before it gets better.

Southern Indonesia Rainfall Improves Soil Moisture

Kansas City, November 21 (World Weather Inc.) – Southern production areas in Indonesia received limited precipitation late in the third calendar quarter and on into the first part of this month. Several locations became too dry to support ideal conditions for rice, corn, sugarcane and other short rooted crops. Some of the dryness was beginning to stress a few tree crops, but recent rain became significant and lifted topsoil moisture sufficiently to induce better crop and development conditions. Other production areas in Indonesia and Malaysia have consistently seen sufficient rain to support normal crop growth and development. The recent increase in rainfall will continue into early December, although there may be a short term bout of less frequent and less significant rain.

NW Summer Crops In South Africa Looking For Greater Rain

Kansas City, November 21 (World Weather Inc.) – A relatively normal spring weather pattern is slated for South Africa during the coming week. The main summer crop areas will see a mix of erratic rain and sunshine that will either bolster soil moisture or keep soil moisture near current levels. Northwestern production areas, however, will continue with lighter soil moisture and a stronger need for more generalized rain of significance. Establishment and early-season development conditions will remain favorable outside western fringes of crop country in Free State and North West where dryness prevails. Planting of summer crops and the harvest of winter crops will advance around the periods of rain as will the harvest of winter crops.
