SE China Drought Expanding; No Relief On The Way

Kansas City, December 27 (World Weather Inc.) – China has largely been drier or much drier than normal in recent weeks. The lack of rain and periods of warmer than normal weather have caused drought to pop up in southern and portions of east-central China. The country will remain drier and warmer biased for at least the next seven to ten days and additional drying will occur. Short-term impacts to the winter wheat and rapeseed will be minimal. However, the need for significant precipitation will increase later this winter to prepare for early season rice planting and to stimulate rapeseed development. This is the dry season for many areas in central and northern China and seasonal rains do not usually evolve in those areas until April and May leaving plenty of time for improved weather.
