Southwestern Russia, Ukraine Will Continue To Dry Down

Kansas City, August 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Several areas in Russia’s Volga River Basin and USDA defined ‘Southern Region’ into eastern Ukraine, western Kazakhstan, and neighboring areas dried down significantly during the past week. The lack of rain was welcome for those that are still harvesting winter grains and oilseeds. The environment otherwise deteriorated for the summer grains and oilseeds produced in these areas. Precipitation will remain limited for at least another week and conditions for the summer crops may deteriorate further. Other locations in the former Soviet Union will have a few opportunities for erratic rain through the middle of next week. The rain will promote more favorable conditions for developing summer grains and oilseeds.

Weekly Citrus Weather For Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026

Kansas City, August 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Florida’s citrus areas saw waves of rain on a frequent basis during the past week. Additional bouts of rain and storms will occur during the coming week. The environment will remain favorable for aggressive citrus development. Mexico’s citrus areas also saw a good mix of monsoonal rain and sunshine during the past week. Northeastern Mexico remains a little too dry for ideal conditions in the rain-fed areas, though overall production potentials remain favorable. The main citrus areas will again see a good mix of rain and sunshine through the middle of next week. Brazil’s citrus areas will be mostly dry through the middle of next week. Late-season harvesting and general farming activity will advance swiftly.

Argentina’s Late Corn, Cotton Harvest Slowed By Rain

Kansas City, August 12 (World Weather, Inc.) – Argentina’s summer crop harvesting and winter crop planting has neared completion, but rain in La Pampa as well as from Chaco into northern Santa Fe has slowed corn and cotton harvesting. Meanwhile, winter wheat crop ratings are mostly favorable, despite some dryness in west-central and northwestern Argentina. Light showers into Friday and significant rain Saturday into Wednesday of next week will at least temporarily ease dryness in west-central and northwestern Argentina while extending cotton and corn harvest delays. Quality declines to cotton in northern Santa Fe may result as well, but most of the crop has been harvested and total impacts on Argentine cotton production should be minimal.
