China’s Driest Areas Will See Relief In Coming Days

Kansas City, August 7 (World Weather Inc.) – Henan and neighboring areas in Shanxi, Hebei, and Shandong into Hubei, eastern Sichuan dried down steadily in recent weeks. Rainfall has been spotty for these areas and temperatures have surged near or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit on a frequent basis. Coarse grain, oilseed, and cotton development has been stressed and overall development slowed; though, no major production losses are suspected. Most of the dry region will see rain evolve on a frequent basis in the coming the days and that will significantly improve the moisture profile and crop development. Other locations in China will receive enough rain or have enough moisture to maintain aggressive growth.

India Production Potentials Remain Favorable

Kansas City, August 6 (World Weather Inc.) – Although several production areas in central and southern India have been drier than usual so far this monsoon season, production potentials for India as a whole are favorable. Rainfall has been frequent enough in recent weeks to maintain a good environment for new growth outside portions of Tamil Nadu, southern Andhra Pradesh, and western fringes of Rajasthan. Southern India will see more frequent rainfall in the coming days that will improve the moisture profile and support more aggressive growth. Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and northwestern Maharashtra will trend drier than usual during the coming week and will dry down. As long as timely rain occurs later this month, long-term production potentials will be favorable. The remaining locations in India will see a good mix of monsoonal rain and sunshine through the middle of next week that will maintain favorable development conditions.

Ukraine, Russia’s ‘Southern Region’ Will Dry Down Further

Kansas City, August 5 (World Weather Inc.) – Although spotty rain was noted in Ukraine, Russia’s ‘Southern Region’ and Volga River Basin, and western Kazakhstan during the past week, soil moisture remains short to critically short for several locations. Ongoing dryness has likely promoted uneven or poor development for unirrigated summer grains and oilseeds, most notably in unirrigated areas. These areas will remain drier biased for at least another week and additional drying will occur. Conditions for new growth will likely deteriorate. Maturation and harvesting of the winter grains and oilseeds will otherwise advance swiftly. Other production areas in Russia and northern Kazakhstan will either receive enough rain or have enough moisture to support relatively good development conditions for the summer crops.

Central U.S. Heat Unlikely To Go Beyond Plains Until Next Week

Kansas City, August 6 (World Weather Inc.) – A mini heatwave is evolving across the central and southern Great Plains and it will last into the weekend. Temperatures of 95-108 degrees are likely with Friday afternoon hottest. The heat will stress livestock and crops while restricting human activity and raising the demand for supplemental cooling fuel. However, the event will not last long enough to be of much concern and the heat is unlikely to advance very far out of the Great Plains due to a passing cool front late this weekend and early next week. Strong wind speeds are expected during the heat event. Next week will bring on another round of excessive heat and this time some of the heat will reach into the Midwest.
