Western Argentina Dryness Greatly Eased By Weekend Rain

Kansas City, September 2 (World Weather Inc.) – The season’s greatest rain fell in the western portions of Argentina during this past weekend bolstering topsoil for much improved wheat and barley establishment prior to the start of aggressive spring crop development. A little farther to the east, though, the rain proved to be a little too much for some fields and local flooding resulted. Most of the weekend precipitation event will prove to be beneficial for winter and spring crop needs, but the late harvest of summer crops was disrupted for a little while. Drier weather has already returned to the region and it will prevail for the next ten days resulting in better field working conditions and eventual improved root and tiller development in the previously driest winter crop areas of the nation.

West Texas Rain Eases Dryness, Improves Cotton Outlook

Kansas City, September 2 (World Weather Inc.) – Dryness in West Texas has been notably eased by rain in the past week. Dryland cotton production areas needed the moisture more than most other areas and although the rain amounts were light they were extremely important. In the meantime, central parts of West Texas received a good soaking rain which should carry many crops in that region through the balance of the growing season unless new bolls are set and those may not fully mature before the first autumn freeze arrives. In the meantime, Tropical Storm Lorena off the west coast of Mexico promises to bring additional rain to West Texas this weekend.
