South Africa Winter Crop Prospects Relatively Favorable

Kansas City, September 17 (World Weather Inc.) – Winter wheat, barley, and canola conditions remain favorable for much of South Africa despite the main production areas trending drier than normal during the past month. The combination of irrigation and timely rain has helped induce a well-established crop that is poised to perform quite well this spring as long as timely rain evolves and there are no unusually late frost and freezes. Rain is being advertised for next week and if it verifies most crops will get a welcome boost in topsoil moisture to support reproduction and filling.

The storm should be named Gabrielle and will move toward Bermuda. The system should turn off to the east northeast next week posing no threat to the United States or Canada.
