China’s Yellow River Basin, North China Plain To Remain Wet

Kansas City, October 16 (World Weather Inc.) – Waves of rain were again noted in China’s central Yellow River Basin and portions of the North China Plain and Yangtze River Basin during the past week. The ground is saturated from weeks of frequent rain and flooding was noted in several locations. Harvesting of summer crops has been very slow for the past few weeks and it will remain that way for a while. Crop quality declines and some damage are also suspected with a need for replanting of some winter crops. The wet bias will linger for a little while longer, but some improved weather is expected in this coming week. Areas of standing water may linger for a while, despite decreasing rain amounts and frequency.

U.S. Pacific Northwest Drought Intensifying; Relief On The Way

Kansas City, October 15 (World Weather Inc.) – Washington, much of Idaho, and portions of Oregon are enduring various stages of drought or abnormally dry conditions. Much of Washington and Oregon were drier than usual during the past month that, combined with periods of warmer than usual weather, promoted aggressive drying. A large section of Idaho received near to above normal precipitation during the past month, though precipitation was too light to fix long term dryness. Water reservoir levels are extremely low in Washington making this year’s wet season extremely important for irrigation in 2026. Precipitation will initially be limited for much of the Pacific Northwest outside areas near and west of the Cascade Mountains through the middle of next week. There is potential for more significant precipitation later this month and in early November that may help improve the moisture profile.
