South Africa’s Influence From La Nina Ensures More Rain

Kansas City, November 26 (World Weather Inc.) – Slowly improving soil moisture continues to occur in South Africa. Planting of summer crops is ongoing and should continue aggressively for the next few weeks as long as rain continues to occur periodically along with bouts of sunshine and warm weather. La Nina conditions have been quite influential over the past few weeks and little change is likely through much of December. That should translate into continued timely bouts of rain supporting more planting and quick emergence and establishment. There is still a need for more significant rain to completely fix the moisture deficits after the winter dry season, although the forecast provides multiple opportunities for crop and field improvement.

Tropical Storm Koto To Slowly Inch Toward Vietnam

Kansas City, November 26 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Storm Koto evolved while advancing from the Philippines into the South China Sea in recent days. While the disturbance promoted rain in several locations of the Philippines, no severe flooding was noted. The disturbance will now slowly travel across the South China Sea through at least this weekend with some intensification likely. Outer rain bands from the disturbance may begin to lash central and southern Vietnam Sunday. Tropical Storm Koto could then enter southern Vietnam early next week, though confidence is low for the exact track the system will take. Flooding will again be a concern for portions of Vietnam depending on the exact track Koto will take in the coming days.
