U.S. Hard Red Winter Wheat Country Needs Significant Rain

Kansas City, September 4 (World Weather, Inc.) – Hot to excessively hot temperatures and limited rain in recent weeks dried out the soil in much of hard red winter wheat country. The weather pattern will not change much during the next ten days and planting delays are likely in much of the region. There is still plenty of time for planting to occur, but the widespread, significant rain needed to bolster soil moisture to ensure favorable conditions for germination and establishment is not expected for at least ten more days and likely longer.

France, Southeastern Europe Will Remain Dry

Kansas City, September 4 (World Weather Inc.) – France is facing one of its smallest corn crops in decades due to the heatwaves and drought this year. Several neighboring areas in England and the Iberian Peninsula have also struggled with dryness this year and production cuts are possible as well. While there was hope for some spotty rain, a return to drier weather is expected for a large section of Western Europe through the end of next week. Late-season development conditions will remain less than favorable to poor for France, southern England, and rain-fed areas in Spain and Portugal. Southeastern Europe also dried down later in the summer. With drier than usual weather also slated for much of the region through the end of next week, late-season development conditions will remain less than favorable to poor. Northeastern Europe will otherwise see a good mix of rain and sunshine through the end of next week.
