Evening U.S. And South America Weather Update For September 28, 2026

The first ten days of the evening model run were dominated by a change in weather patterns over North America allowing a stronger ridge of high pressure to evolve over the west. This created a stronger northwesterly flow pattern aloft limiting precipitation in the Plains, Midwest, Delta and southeastern states which would be good for summer crop maturation and harvesting after recent wet weather in the Plains and western Corn Belt.
Despite some of the changes suggested this evening, the general theme of weather in South America did not change much. Rain still begins in center west Brazil this weekend and continues periodically next week. The model was too wet in interior southern Brazil during much of the two-week forecast and that was seriously overdone. Argentina, like center west Brazil, will be trending wetter this weekend into next week.

Hurricane Polo to Make Landfall Over Baja California Sur Later Today

Hurricane Polo is expected to make landfall over Baja California Sur later today, and will make a second landfall over Sonora by Tuesday afternoon. Heavy rainfall and hurricane force wind speeds could impact fruit that is grown over the peninsula, and could pose risks for cotton quality in Sonora if conditions verify. Those with interests in northwestern Mexico should monitor this situation closely. Tropical Storm Rachel’s outer bands may bring heavy rainfall to southwestern Mexico, though this forecast will also need to be monitored closely as current forecast amounts are subject to change in the next few days. Other tropical systems being monitored in the Atlantic and Central Pacific will not be any threat to land.

Canadian Prairies Weather For September 28, 2026

            A pleasant week of weather is predicted for the Prairies this week – at least in the sense of having no major storm systems impacting the region. A couple of cool fronts will pass across the Prairies helping to keep relatively humidity low enough to improve crop moisture and better drying conditions.

World Coffee Weather For September 28, 2026

Kansas City, September 28 (World Weather, Inc.) – Northern and western Sumatra, Indonesia reported significant rain during the weekend. Computer weather forecast models are also hinting at improved rainfall for southern India in the coming two weeks while some timely rain impacts Central America, Mexico and the Greater Antilles. Ivory Coast and southwestern Ghana rainfall will continue limited and sporadic leaving need for greater rainfall. Vietnam is advertised to continue receiving a routine distribution of rain favoring crop development. Rain diminished during the weekend and will remain restricted across Brazil’s key coffee areas for another couple of days. Showers and thunderstorms will begin to increase again starting Wednesday in Parana and Sao Paulo. The precipitation will increase and spread to the north impacting many crop areas from Parana to Cerrado Mineiro, Zona da Mata and Sul de Minas from late this week into next Monday. The rain may diminish once again during mid-week next week.

Brazil Coffee Weather For September 28, 2026

Kansas City, September 28 (World Weather, Inc.) – Rain diminished during the weekend and will remain restricted across Brazil’s key coffee areas for another couple of days. Showers and thunderstorms will begin to increase again starting Wednesday in Parana and Sao Paulo. The precipitation will increase and spread to the north impacting many crop areas from Parana to Cerrado Mineiro, Zona da Mata and Sul de Minas from late this week into next Monday. The rain may diminish once again during mid-week next week.
