DrewLerner
Drew Lerner is founder, president and senior Agricultural Meteorologist. He began his career in 1978 as he participated in the International Monsoon Experiment (MONEX), an international effort to collect and process data from the tropics from Africa to Australia, the Philippines and China to improve forecasts for the Indian Monsoon.
Drew began forecasting for Kansas City metropolitan public works and a variety of radio stations after obtaining a forecast position with Midwest Weather Services in 1979. He and other members of the staff were asked to begin development of an agricultural weather product for a commodity news wire service called Commodity News Services. The weather group was soon absorbed into Commodity News Services and the group of forecasters came to be known as Global Weather Services. Over the next 20 years Global Weather Services became a well-known and respected group of commodity weather forecasters leading the daily commodity trade into key business decisions. Drew led the Global Weather Services group in the late 1990s up to 2001.
Through a series of miraculous changes resulting from the bankruptcy of Global Weather Services’ parent company in 2001, World Weather, Inc. was founded in the basement of Drew’s home with just five customers, no supporting staff and a hugely humbled heart for weather. Since then, World Weather, Inc. has grown to an international company with a full staff of experts that have helped make the business a complete success. Drew credits his wife and daughter for putting up with some incredibly long hours of commitment in providing the quality service that exists today and staying supportive through the years. However, Drew insists that World Weather, Inc. is only successful because of God’s blessings and nothing less.
