U.S. High Plains In Need Of Rain; Delta To Receive More Rain

Kansas City, January 19 (World Weather Inc.) – Most of the U.S. high Plains region from West Texas through Colorado and far western Kansas to Montana are dry enough to warrant a closer watch for future precipitation events, despite some areas reporting near or above normal precipitation the past three months. Some erratic precipitation is expected in these areas through the end of January and into early February, but not enough moisture is expected to significantly improve the moisture profile. In the meantime, timely and beneficial moisture has impacted the Delta where precipitation was lacking during the latter months of 2023. Rain is expected to develop in the Delta, eastern Texas, the Tennessee River Basin and a part of the southeastern states this week after the weekend cold abates. Some areas may receive several inches of rain bolstering soil moisture significantly.

China Winter Wheat, Rapeseed Benefit From Moisture

Kansas City, January 19 (World Weather Inc.) – Beneficial moisture from rain and snow fell across eastern China’s wheat and rapeseed production areas during the week ending Friday. The moisture helped to ensure good development potential in the early days of spring. Soil conditions remain adequately moist for much of the Yangtze River Basin and North China Plain. Areas near and south of the Yangtze River will receive additional rain and snow through the coming week that will either keep soil moisture near current levels or bolster it. The North China Plain will otherwise receive little to no precipitation, though no major changes to the moisture profile will occur.
