Ontario And Quebec, Canada Crops Improve After Soil Firms

Kansas City, June 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Ontario has trended wetter than normal since the start of planting season. Producers have been able to plant between the periods of wetter weather with significant progress likely made during the past week. However, the wet weather has limited or even delayed planting and general fieldwork at times and producers have been frustrated. Southern Quebec has not been as anomalously wet since early April and planting conditions have been more favorable. All of southeastern
Canada has ample moisture for both summer and winter crops. After a brief period of drier and warmer weather today, an upper-level trough of low pressure will gradually build and settle over eastern Canada for the remainder of the coming week. Rain, cloudiness, and mild temperatures will once again impact planting and fieldwork rates.

Weekly Citrus Weather for June 4, 2024

Kansas City, June 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Warmer-than-normal conditions combined with spotty rainfall in recent weeks promoted aggressive drying in Florida. Drought or abnormally dry conditions were noted in a large section of citrus country despite some rainfall in recent weeks. Irrigation has been applied routinely, but a failing in the development of normal seasonal rainfall is possible over the next few weeks and could perpetuate dryness and raise the dependency upon irrigation for normal tree and fruit development. Dryness could eventually raise concern over fruit sizes and quality. Drought is also prevalent in Mexico’s citrus areas. Drier and warmer than normal conditions during the coming week will continue to promote less than favorable conditions for the citrus. Seasonally dry weather in Brazil will be beneficial for the citrus that is maturing or being harvested.
